This handsome boy was rescued from a shelter, and we think he is about 3-4yrs old. Levi is a mix - he may have some spaniel in him, as he has a freckled nose and a bob tail. Levi is a quiet, sweet boy and we wonder if he has not been around other dogs much. He has been fine with them, but he does not interact much – it’s like he does not know what to do. Levi would benefit from some basic obedience training, and we would love to see him get a home where he gets to go for lots of walks……and maybe a doggie buddy to show him how to be a dog. He needs work on the leash, but he will learn quickly. Levi is looking for his person to bond with – could that be you?

Jess is a wonderful 9 year old Gordon Setter girl. Her owners lost a portion of their fence in a windstorm, and they did not want to deal with not being able to let her out back. This girl is a gem - she has the cutest personality. Jess is wonderful with other dogs – not sure about cats, she is housetrained, good with all people. She loves to play, but she is a tease! She will fetch a ball, then trot by you – just out of reach – and “talk” to you! It’s like she is saying “look what I have!” She “talks” to us every day -she is such a happy girl. Many of you that follow our website know that Gordons are our other love. Jess does need work on the leash, but she is very smart and will respond to training. She knows several commands and is eager to please. Gordons are not the best off leash dogs, as they tend to follow their nose. Her previous owner did tell us she would bolt. She loves to get out and explore, so she would love to be in a home that will get her out for regular walks. Can you give this girl the forever home she needs?

Eddie is about 16-18 months old, and was rescued from a shelter. He was originally adopted from this same shelter, but within a couple of weeks had been picked up for running loose three times! New owners signed him back over to the shelter, saying they could not afford to fix their fence! Eddie is a beautiful blonde boy, with lots of energy. He is very sweet, good with the other dogs, but he is all “paws on.” Eddie and Sadie hang out together and those two are crazy! They make the most of their playtime out! It seems that someone must have worked with Eddie at one time, because he knows the basic commands. He needs a little work on leash, but he is eager to please and very trainable. Eddie just needs someone to remind him what is acceptable and what is not. He does know how to open some gates, so a secure yard is a must. He can be a bit jumpy, so he may be too much for toddlers. This boy will be a fun dog and a great companion.

Betty is 6 years old and was rescued from a local shelter, after being released by an owner that said he “was getting too old to chase her”………..sigh Betty is very sweet, knows the basic commands and is good with other dogs. We get the feeling she was on her own alot, as she craves the human touch. Betty just wants to be loved and have a safe, secure home. She would also love to have someone that would get her out for walks – Betty loves to go walking. She is a little chunky, but we found out she is low thyroid and have started her on thyroid meds. She always seems to have smile for us, and she seems eager to please. Could you be the home for her?

This happy boy will be 2 years old in March. Jake came to CGRR from an owner who realized they were not giving him the home and exercise needed. Jake was unfortunately an outside dog, so he has not been taught rules and boundaries. He is a goofy boy, very sweet, and enjoys playing with the other dogs. He loves all people, but he does get excited at times and can be jumpy. Jake would benefit from some basic obedience training. As no one has worked with him, he will bolt if given the chance. Jake just needs what so many others need – structure, a good routine, and someone that will work with him to help him be the best he can be! He would also love to go for lots of walks – you cannot see much from a back yard! We want Jake to find a home that will show him what it is like to be a true member of the family – inside!

We are doing a “courtesy posting” for this girl. Amber is an 8 year old Lab/Golden mix, given up to another rescue group. We were told she is a very sweet girl. She is housetrained, kid and other dog friendly. But she cannot be in a home with small animals or cats. She knows sit, shake, down, fetch, roll over and others. We would like to help find Amber her forever home. If you are interested, please email an application and we will put you in touch with her foster parents.

What a sweet face on this girl – the face of an angel – a very neglected angel. Dakota was found wandering the streets, and some nice folks took her home, thinking they would find her owner. They took fliers to shelters, posted ads in the newspaper and on the internet – no one came forward. They wanted to keep Dakota, but realized their home was not the best for her. Dakota is weak in her hind end and she has a hard time with stairs, as well as hardwood floors – both of which were in her current home. She is a big love sponge! This girl just wants the human touch – and food! We think Dakota is about 11-12 years old. We ran a full blood panel on her, and things were not good. Dakota had extremely low thyroid, and her albumen levels were very low…………and she has Heartworm. Because of her age, and poor health, we feel that the heartworm treatment would be too much for Dakota. We are treating her conservatively, with Doxycycline and Heartgard. The Doxy will make the female heartworms impotent, and the Heartgard will eventually kill off the heartworms – but it is a slow process. We are giving her some Rimadyl and joint pills for her hind end, and the Rimadyl has helped her. We would love to find a kind soul out there, that can take Dakota in and give her a loving home for however long she has left. She is such a sweet girl, who will win your heart over when you meet her. She will gaze into your eyes, as if asking if you can take her home. CGRR will pay for her meds and food. This girl will not ask for much – a safe, loving home would be wonderful.

This sweet old girl was rescued from a shelter and it is so sad to think of her wandering around, because she cannot hear. Esther is about 11 years old and deaf, more than likely due to neglect of her ears. They were horrible when we got her and it took a couple of weeks just to get them to where she looked somewhat comfortable. Esther is one big sweetheart – she just wants the human touch. She has some arthritis in her ankles, so she would do better in a one level home. Esther enjoys being with other dogs and she LOVES her big comfy dog bed! We would love to find a foster home for Esther, as she deserves some TLC. She learned our daily routine quickly, so she is a smart girl. Esther will not ask for much – she just wants to be with people who love her. Can you find room in your heart/home to perhaps foster this girl?

We are sad to report that Bill Britton, co-founder of CGRR and author of “The Legend of Rainbow Bridge,” passed away on December 25th, 2011. Bill joins his wife Mickie, who passed on almost 10 years ago. Many of you knew Bill and Mickie and have been supporters for many years. Bill had not been in the best of health for quite some time, and was not able to do much physical work. Bill was passionate about these dogs, however, and he was able to provide transport. He pulled many, many dogs from shelters, out of state, as well as here in Utah. Bill was known for also bringing home an extra dog or two! He had a big heart when it came to these dogs, and he wanted to help save as many as he could.

Bill had requested no services, and the family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to CGRR. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

For the many Goldens that have gone to Rainbow Bridge, it is nice to know they have Bill and Mickie watching over them again. Let them rejoice and be at peace.

If you would like to make a donation in Bill’s memory, you can visit our donation page .

This spunky girl was rescued from a shelter, and she needs a job! Taylor is a very cute mix, and if you are looking for an active dog that you can train to do different things, this is your girl! She is high energy and loves to play fetch, and if you hide the ball, she will find it. If you are familiar with Cesar Millan and his “tshh” command – this girl knows that. She gets excitable and can be jumpy, but as soon as you say “Tshh!” she sits in front of you. If you spend even a little time with Taylor, you can see the hunger in her eyes – she wants to learn and be challenged. She would probably make a great search and rescue dog or drug sniffing dog. She is very smart and quick to learn, so training will be a breeze. We feel Taylor is housetrained, but she is a bit of a dominant female. Not sure if she has not been around many other dogs, but it’s like she does not know how to greet – she is all paws on and will try to dominate them. She has been a bit much for some, but we can tell she wants to play – she just needs some guidance as to what is the correct behavior. She needs work on the leash, but once again, she is very trainable. Taylor will be a fun dog for someone looking for a hiking or jogging buddy. She loves belly rubs and will even give an occasional kiss of appreciation!
